Added my first ever Game Jam Submission!


First off, what a blast! Working against the clock had a LOT of major downsides that led to some serious disappointments and rough moments emotionally speaking, but it's good training for the REAL deadlines that you can't escape in life. Leaving a game jam many people have said they shared the same sentiment: "If i'd just had that extra 30 minutes, hour, etc, I could've done more!"

This attitude is fighting hard to stay at the forefront of my mind: But I need to face the facts.

This is my first GameMaker project, and my first publicly available product that was actually entirely built by me. The art was done by my close friend Cedric, and all the programming/level design was straight from my noggin.

This is my first time working on such a tight deadline, and having started 6 hours late didn't help matters much. Plus, with the slow start of trying to get GM:S off the ground and learn how IT wants me to do stuff was a bit of a challenge, but I'm so glad I did it.

Participating in a Game Jam seems like it could be a very rewarding experience once I've become more familiar with the engine I choose to use. I look forward to the next project I get to submit to a game jam like this one!

Special thanks to Superdisk for the heads up on the competition and Cedric Summers (Instagram: @meiracult) for doing so much with so little time and art direction. For both of us this is a totally new experience and we're excited to do more fun stuff like this.
